Santos 1 - Las United 1

The game last Saturday ended with a 1 - 1 draw, Luke Ha'atarea scoring from a corner kick through a header, similar to the score against Flamingo in the first game.

It was a fair contest with Santos having more scoring opportunities but not utilized or attempts not made on goal.

Boys did well in containing vetran William Omokirio up front and distorting Las midfield. Playing against Las, a supper league team for many decades was not an easy task, but the boys stood the challenge and manage to cause a draw, coming from behind.

Like the result against Flamingo, Santos has to come from behind to equalise. It shows that the boys can manage under pressure, play cool, be patient, hard working and we can still score. That was positive mentality in my view. Not giving up!

Apparent weaknesses were identified to be worked on by the coach. One weakness was too much unnecessary drippling, causing delays to the momentum of critical attacks upfront, allowing time for the backs to recover position.

So from 2 matches, Santos is now on 2 points. Hard to compare with other teams cos tally is not compiled by HFA or Santos officials.

Santos plays Las United this Saturday 6/09/007

Our next game is at 9:30 am this Saturday and the boys are camping at my residence on Friday night as part of preparation for the game. We want to maintain team spirit and stay focussed, so we are camping at my place prior to our every Saturday games.

For week days games, camping is not possible so we come to my residence at least 3 hours before games. Boys watch soccer games videos, talked about game plans and prayed together. Those are some of the activities that we do at camp.

This has been working well though its costly, but I am enjoying it cos I like to see young boys engage in worthwhile social activities.

Thanks - JAK.

About Me

I am a Member of Santos Football Club and I wish to promote and develop the Club and its potential players to play in a more better organized and competitive football league environment whether locally, regionally or internationally. Currently, SFC is in the the 1st division of the HFA football league. I want to see SFC gradually grow into one of the best and respected football clubs in Solomon Islands in the future. My dream is for SFC to reach the HFA Super League and if possible to qualify for the Oceania Club Champions League in the future.
